Getting there
To go to Taitung the train is the best option, unless you are driving.
Take the train from the kaohsiung main train station,
The train station is far from the city center, to go to the city the taxi is the best option fast and cheap about NT$220, US$ 8.
we use Taitung as sleeping city, the main goal was to go to Chishsbang township to see the rice field.
Where to sleep in Taitung.
We stay at the Traveller inn librairy,
Is a very small hotel, nice place, we had a room with a Jacuzzi, the front desk lady was very nice and helpful, clean hotel, when you go up to the rooms you have to leave your shoes downstairs at the front desk, and use their sleepers.
The price was NT$ 4863, US$ 150 for 2 nights.
Taitung was the least interesting city to visit.
Things to Do.
The TIEHUA music village, go during night time where all is illuminated.
Food wise, there is a famous goose place, they sell only goose, but you have to go very early in night time, because they cook only a certain amount of goose and close soon they are sold out, we when there at 7pm already sold out.

CHISHBANG
Unless you are driving, to go to Chishsbang the train and bus are the best option, to go to Chishsbang we use the bus and the train to comeback.
The Bus trip last 1h20 and cost NT$ 140,US$ 5, take the bus at the Taitung bus station, in Chishbang the stop is just across the train station road. Anyway the city is very small, you won’t get lost.

Taking the train back to Taitung, take about 50 min and cost NT$ 100 ,US$ 4, the train station is right in the city center.
The goal for this day trip was to see the rice fields, the season was almost over, but we still see some.
You can rent bicycles to go around the rice fields.
We eat at the

it was the only one open, we eat, what they call the train box, which the local peoples eat during the train trip, is a pork chop, with rice, and soup, it was the worst food I ever eat.
Also in Chishsbang there is the Chishang Barn Art Museum | Taitung Travel , entrance NT$ 50 US$ 2, very small museum, but kind of very spiritual museum.
Chishang Barn Art Museum is located next to Chishang Railway Station. Mr. Liang Cheng-hsien offered his own 60-year-old barn, and it was renovated with more than a year of hard work by Professor Chen Kuan-hua and his students from Yuan Ze University.
Also you can have a nice little walk or even renting some boats at the Dapo lake when you go to the rice fields direction.
TAITUNG TO TAIPEI
To compete the last leg of this Taiwanese trip, we took the train from Taitung to Taipei, the train crossed the scenic Taroko National park,
At the time I was in Taiwan, the Taroko National Park was closed due to the summer earthquake and the October typhoon,
The trip cost NT$390, US$13, and too approximatey 4h30 min.
